It's been a busy summer at Scrumptious Bakes, and we've loved creating a plethora of beautiful, bespoke wedding showpieces and favours for our wonderful brides and grooms. 

 

We are very proud of our excellent reputation, and pride ourselves on our dedication to perfection, delicious taste, an understanding of what our couples want, and the skills to translate this into beautiful centrepieces that help to make the most special of occasions even more memorable. We are proud perfectionists, in terms of presentation and also flavour. Our creative, elegant bakes with their clean lines, pastel colours and decadent touches are our signature look and our bakes always have their own identity, rather than being a version of someone else’s work.​

'Emma made our wedding cake and macaron wedding favours. Booking her was easily one of the best decisions we made! The cake was absolutely beautiful and tasted incredible. When should we get in touch?

 

During your wedding design process, there will be lots of decisions to make to help your day come to life. Some of our couples approach us with their date and venue booked, and a clear idea of the cake, macaron tower or favours that they'd like. Other couples contact us simply to say that they love our style, and to ask if we have availability for the time of year that they're thinking about getting married, for example autumn 2020.

 

Either way is absolutely fine with us - we are always happy to chat and help as much as we can, no matter which stage you're at.

What style of wedding cakes do you make?

 

We are specialists in creating beautiful, delicious naked and semi-naked wedding cakes in your favourite flavours; the perfect centrepiece for your special day.

 

Their layers of light, soft sponge, smooth, whipped buttercream, award-winning conserves, citrusy curds, molten salted caramel and indulgent Belgian chocolate simply melt-in-the-mouth, and, very importantly, they taste as delicious as they look. 

 

Carefully crafted in your favourite flavour(s), they look stunning adorned with glistening berries, tumbling fresh flowers, beautiful edible flowers and / or favourite treats, including macarons, mini doughnuts and even pic'n'mix. We are here to bring your vision to life!

 

Naked wedding cakes have bare sponge sides, and semi-naked wedding cakes have semi-frosted sponge sides, allowing some of the cake underneath the buttercream to peek through. Have a look at our Pinterest board for examples of these styles of cakes, and lots of inspiration!

What size wedding cake should we order?

 

We bake our beautiful cakes in four sizes - 4", 6", 8" and 10" in diameter.  Each cake is composed of four layers of light, soft sponge, smooth, whipped, melt-in-the-mouth buttercream and award-winning conserves and delicious fillings. Each size gives a recommended number of portions, as represented by the image below from Let Them Eat Cake.

 

 

 

Wedding cake slices are traditionally known as 'finger portions', and are around an inch smaller than dessert portions. 

 

A 10" sponge would therefore provide 60 wedding cake slices, or 38 if you'd like to have slightly larger portions, for example if your cake is going to be served as dessert to your guests. An 8" sponge would provide 40 wedding cake slices, or 24 dessert portions. 

 

For wedding cake for 120 guests, to be cut into traditional finger portions, we would therefore recommend a 10" sponge, an 8" sponge and a 6" sponge.  

 

We can stack your tiers together, like a traditional wedding cake, or we can arrange them individually, like Harry & Meghan's wedding cake (below), designed by Claire Ptak from Violet Cakes

Can you tell us more about your macarons?

 

We are also known for our delicate, melt-in-the-mouth macarons; delicious French cookies, made with almonds, icing sugar and meringue. Carefully crafted in your chosen colour(s), they look beautiful as a towering centrepiece, or as elegant wedding favours, personalised with your names if you wish.

 

Our macarons are filled with smooth Callebaut Belgian white chocolate ganache, rich Callebaut Belgian dark chocolate ganache, creamy Callebaut Belgian milk chocolate ganache, or indulgent salted caramel Swiss meringue buttercream with a molten salted caramel centre. Our Macaron Tower Pinterest board has lots of ideas to inspire you! They truly are mouth-watering, and our couples agree

 

'We used Emma to produce macarons for our wedding to give us something a little bit different. The macarons were beautiful and delicious. [...] 
My only advice if you use Emma is make sure you keep some of the macarons back for yourselves - our guests loved them and they were all finished by 9pm!'

Do you offer other personalised wedding favours?

 

Yes we do! Our deliciously soft, buttery vanilla sugar cookies are one of our most popular bakes, and we adore marbling them in your favourite colour(s) and stamping them with your preferred messages. 

 

Made with the finest ingredients, including: Organic, U.K.-milled Dove's Farm flour; British butter; organic, free-range Hampshire eggs and organic, award-winning, Fairtrade vanilla, they truly taste as delicious as they look. 

 

 

'Emma baked THE most beautiful and delicious biscuits for our wedding. I cannot recommend her highly enough. She was very flexible with a last minute change of plan which we are very grateful for.
I have been to so many weddings where half the wedding favours are left at the end of the night but there were none left at ours!

Where do you deliver and are there any other suppliers you recommend?

 

We offer a flexible collection and hand-delivery service across Hampshire, Dorset, Surrey and our neighbouring counties, and, in our first year, have also worked with couples marrying in venues across Bristol, Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, the West Midlands and south-west and central London.

We are fortunate to have worked with some wonderful suppliers in these locations, and are always happy to make personal recommendations.
