Syrah and Sam's vibrant, colourful day was full of love, laughter and incredible memories as they tied the knot at The Bond Company in Digbeth, Birmingham.
Recently named the coolest neighbourhood in the U.K. by The Sunday Times, Digbeth's edgy, hipster vibe was perfectly personified by their canal-side venue. A short stroll from the city centre, The Bond Company's complex of fully-restored Victorian warehouses provided the perfect backdrop for their celebration.
Syrah looked absolutely stunning in her ivory, gold and deep red sari, intricately adorned with thousands of tiny beads. She and Sam took their vows in front of family and friends in a light-filled room, with floor-to-ceiling glass panels giving a fabulous view of Birmingham's Grand Union canal.
Syrah's sisters, Miriam and Haleema, and friends Lauren, Samantha, Jess and Emma were bridesmaids, elegantly and effortlessly beautiful in their saris and sequinned dresses. Their stunning bouquets, featuring plumes of deep green foliage, accented with soft white roses and gypsophila were designed and created by Syrah and her bridesmaids themselves, using beautiful blooms from The Triangle Nursery.
Sam's brother, Jo, was his best man, and friends Tom, Nathan and James completed the wedding party.
Following the ceremony, guests were treated to a wealth of delicious canapés, Pimms and bottled beers next to The Bond Company's private wharf.
Syrah, an English teacher and Deputy Head of Sixth Form, and Sam, a Gynaecologist and Obstetrician, met at school and share a love of travel, delicious food and film.
Their chalkboard table plan, designed by the talented Hannah of Hannah Exall Designs featured some epic puns, including James and the Giant Speech, Harry Potter and the Order of Service, Dawn of the Wed, Panic Groom and Wife of Pi.
Each table featured a stunning arrangement of flowers, cascading from tall golden candlesticks, as well as hand-drawn images of each title, beautifully illustrated by Syrah's sister, Miriam.
After a fabulous BBQ and fresh salad lunch, Syrah and Sam's desert table, piled with colourful Indian sweets, a cheese board and the biggest doughnut wall we've ever seen, was open for businesses! We loved this moment as they cut their beautiful cake; Syrah's smile says it all!
Syrah and Sam chose a semi-naked wedding cake, with three tiers of soft vanilla sponge, smooth, whipped buttercream and award-winning Camarosa strawberry jam. We worked with Syrah and Sam to bring their vision to life, and adorned each tier with fresh berries; tumbling jewels of raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries, gently dusted with a sprinkle of icing sugar.
We were so thrilled to receive their feedback following their wedding:
'Emma made the most delicious and beautiful wedding cake ever! She takes you through the ordering process really well, with her expertise and advice. She uses top quality ingredients and you can really taste these in the final product. The cake was deliciously moist and was a real showstopper! Everybody at the wedding couldn't help but comment on how great the cake was and we are still getting compliments about it now!'
Thank you Syrah and Sam! We wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
